Information for students
Please note this tool and the information provided below is only for students who are studying at a participating London college. Staff at your college would have told you if you can use this service. If you are unsure whether you can access this service, please email email@example.com
This tool provides you with a one-off personal statement check from an expert adviser. To ensure you make the most of this tool we recommend that you only submit your statement to us once you have spent a considerable amount of time composing it.
If you haven't made a start on your statement yet take a look at our guidance on the writing a personal statement page.
Please remember this is not a proofing service, but a tool designed to give you constructive feedback, enabling you to refine what you already have written.
Your personal statement will be viewed and checked, then feedback will be provided from a member of staff from one of the following:
- Middlesex University London
- Ravensbourne University London
- University of the Arts London
- SOAS, University of London
- University of Westminster
- Linking London
You will need to register to use the tool- see instructions for registering and using the this service below.
Step by step guide for students
A member of staff from your college will tell you when you can access this tool. Once they have confirmed you are eligible to use this service please follow the steps below.
Step 1: Use the ‘register now’ button to set up your account.
Step 2: You will be asked to enter your name and email, and to select a password. You will then be prompted to enter information about your current college course(s) and your HEI choices. This information will be used when assigning a relevant adviser to you. You will need to create your own username and password (please make sure you do not pass this onto anyone else).
Please note the information held on this website will only be used to inform advisers checking personal statements, to assist with the matching and feedback process. After January 2019 all personal information held on the website will be deleted.
Step 3: Once you have registered you will receive an email to confirm your registration. Go to http://www.hecail.ac.uk/ucas/ and log in. If at any point you forget your password you can re-set it by clicking ‘forgotten password’
Step 4: Copy and paste your personal statement into the indicated box and click ‘submit for review’ which will send it to an adviser for comment.
Step 5: Once an adviser has checked your statement and provided feedback (this will normally take 5 working days unless otherwise agreed by your college) you will receive an email to tell you. Log in to your account to view their comments.
Step 6: Make any relevant changes to your statement, and once you are happy with your final statement you can add it to your UCAS application. You may also wish to share your personal statement with your tutor/careers adviser for a final check before submission.
Step 7: Complete our short questionnaire to tell us how useful you found the service.
